Lessons
Runaway Farms offers dressage and hunt seat lessons for beginners as well as more advanced riders, at our farm or at your location by appointment. Riders must be accompanied by an adult if under the age of 18, and must be enthusiastic and willing to listen and learn. Please call us for more information or to set up a tour or lesson time.
Melissa Roberts is a Level I Centered Riding Instructor as well as being an Otterbein College certified riding instructor. She continually increases her knowledge of teaching methods through research and participation in clinics as well as attending events geared toward riders and teachers. As a competitor in dressage, hunt seat, eventing, and western disciplines, Melissa's broad base of knowledge has something to offer every rider. Her years of experience teaching riders of all ages and skill levels is a great asset to our lesson program.
We offer private and semi-private lessons at Runaway Farms on a limited basis, as we only have a small number of well-trained school horses. Lessons are available to boarders on their own horses or on our school horses, and to outside riders who wish to trailer in or have us come to their farm for lessons with their own horse. Lessons focus on the effectiveness of the rider in any seat, and classical dressage exercises are often used to unlock the horse's potential. Riders are challenged to work hard, but an atmosphere of respect and understanding is always emphasized. Lessons in jumping, eventing, and western riding are also available by request, as well as lessons on horse handling and groundwork.
